MAG 3 Magnetic Water Softener, 1" Connection
Magnetic water softeners, in their simplest form, consist of permanent ferrite/magnetite magnets with a magnetic field.
The presence of the magnetic field changes the crystallization form of calcium carbonate. In the absence of a field, it would crystallize in an amorphous form that would easily form scale. In the presence of a magnetic field, however, the calcium carbonate would precipitate in various crystalline forms (aragonite or calcite) that would not adhere to the pipe walls.
