Description

NF-1812-150 GPD HIDROTEK NANOFILTRATION MEMBRANE
Nanofiltration and reverse osmosis are both techniques that use divalent and trivalent ions.
Replacement for: NANOPAD

- How do nanofiltration membranes work?
Today, nanofiltration is mainly applied in the drinking water purification process, such as the removal of micropollutants, water softening, and decolorization. During industrial processes, nanofiltration is used to remove specific components, such as coloring agents. Nanofiltration is a pressure-dependent process during which separation occurs based on the size of the molecules. Membranes perform this separation. This technique is mainly used to remove organic substances, such as micropollutants and multivalent ions. Nanofiltration membranes have a moderate retention of univalent salts.
Nanofiltration removes water-soluble pollutants such as nitrites, nitrates, polyhalogens, and limestone from water.

The nanofiltration membrane removes approximately 50% to 75% of the dissolved salts in the water. Thus, assuming your incoming water is 700 microsiemens, your system's output could be approximately 175 microsiemens in the produced water. (Relative figures depend on the characteristics of the incoming water.)

- When is it necessary to replace a nanofiltration membrane?
The membrane in reverse osmosis systems must be replaced depending on the volume of water treated and the quality of the incoming water. It is recommended to replace the membrane every 2 years.

- How to replace a non-filtration membrane
1. Turn off the water supply to the purification system (using the bypass valve mounted near the wall water inlet) and disconnect the power.
2. Close the storage tank ball valve, if present.
3. Open the purified water supply tap to eliminate any water in the pipe and relieve pressure from the system.
4. Identify the vessel(s) containing the membrane and unscrew the cap.
5. Using parrot-nose pliers, remove the old membrane by gripping its plastic shank.
6. Remove the new membrane from its casing, being careful to only touch the plastic part to avoid bacterial contamination.
7. Grease the black gasket that acts as a collar and the O-rings at the end with Vaseline or food-grade silicone grease.
8. Insert the new membrane into the vessel and screw the cap back on.
9. Re-open the water inlet valve to the system and reconnect the power supply (leave the storage tank valve closed, if present).
10. Rinse the membrane by leaving the supply tap open for at least 20-30 minutes.
11. Re-open the valve on the storage tank and... you can use the system normally!
